Weddings and being gluten free

If you missed my first post, I am a wedding photographer in San Diego. I was thinking today about the vendor meals we usually get. How can I know if they are gluten free? Do I ask the bride and groom to go through a hassle to make sure my meal is GF? Can I really trust the food I'm given? SO many questions!

At weddings I'm on my feet anywhere from 6-10 or more hours at a time with one food break...a Lara Bar just won't do the trick. lol I need a full meal to sustain myself and I'm confused and overwhelmed with how to make sure I get a good GF menu.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm glad to hear them! In the meantime, I'm going to try out Betty Crocker's gluten free yellow cake mix later today...I'll post a review afterwards. :)

I'm thinking a turkey wrap would hold up best given that you could be there up to 10 hours. We don't eat out often for our own health concerns, so wraps it is for us. :)

going out to eat was one of the biggest issues we had when my boyfriend went GF. at first it was awkward having to explain that you have food allergies and if they could please modify something for us. this included weddings. by now though, he's gotten much more comfortable with it, i'm glad to say. you just have to be upfront with them, and ask if they could modify a meal for food allergies. my boyfriend often asks for a piece of steak, grilled with nothing but salt and pepper (since he is allergic to dairy), and steamed veggies. maybe plain raice if they have it. it's a bland diet, but compared to feeling like crap afterwards, it's a much better option. i guess though, being a vendor, that's a stickier situation. a wrap sounds good, but there are other GF snacks. check out Henry's -- they have cheaper options than WF.
